Are they still hiring for remote work?

It worse for my generation (millenials) probably have to work to 90 just to live

The Republican retirement plan is no one retires until they are dead.

I’d like to have career when I’m forced to retire.

My father worked for Westinghouse for 35 years. A union job that had a guaranteed pension. He retired at age sixty two and lived a comfortable life to age seventy five. I worked as a machinist for 45 years at nine different shops. Most of those shops had an IRA plan I could contribute to. I had to work until age seventy in order to be able to retire without fear of losing my home or going hungry. I was officially retired on the first day of 2018. I was fully adapted to retirement ten seconds after I woke up that day. No F!@#$%g way I am going back to work.

I don’t know about this. They may have to pay people bonuses not to retire. The jobs are there, why not try to keep your most experienced people around for a while.

See, there is this thing Republicans love to preach about – Personal Responsibility. But for other people as I have seen, not themselves. Since I am an “other people”, thank god, I knew I wanted to retire and instead of wasting money, I invested for my retirement. So I really am not worried about where the next buck is coming from. Besides, I made a killing when I sold that “white elephant” to Mr. Douglas!!

I figured that out when I was fifty. Quit that job at fifty six. Much better to work for myself.

Find someplace to volunteer your time/abilities. Not having to work for wages is so much more rewarding. Retired now for, coming on 8 years.. driving seniors https://drivehappiness.ca/ I get more appreciation in one day than I ever got while working.

I worked until I was 72; I retired right at the beginning of the pandemic. I’m glad I retired, but I’ve found the combination of retirement and the pandemic challenging. I haven’t wasted my time, but I do feel isolated.

I am 73 years old. I am still working, by choice.

I like the work I do. It challenges my mind. It’s almost a hobby and I convinced someone to pay me to do it. I used to be in management, and I loved it when I worked there. This is my “retirement job” – a big step down from the responsibilities I used to have.

I don’t need the money, so much of it goes to charities. I am converting my hobby into something productive.

Retired a year ago today. Yeah, I am going back into the workforce soon. Pension and investments are enough to live on, but will be working for luxuries and to be able to invest during the downturn in the market.

Yeah, SSA needs an increase. It can be financed by doing away with reagan’s “reforms” which cost more for SSA. I know because I worked there. Some of its “reforms” were tested by SSA before being put in place. SSA discovered that they would cost the agency more $$. It went and did it anyhow.

OK, we get it, Jeff. Inflation is a thing. It is also becoming a dead horse in this strip. With everything else going on in the world, you should be able to come up with another topic. How about doing something on Putin claiming to annex The Bronx.
