You are not pro-life if you are anti-vaccine. IMO.

Seriously, it is making me pause to rethink the summer road trip. I guess those red states don’t really want my tourist dollars anyway.

That’s going to be a LONG drive. Right here in Oregon, it can take several hours to get from one well vaccinated place to the next.

One guy was hesitant about getting the shot and the after affects. Now he needs a double lung transplant! But hey, no sore arm, right?

I would be happy to let Darwin take over except for three things:

    1. Hospitals are now being overrun again. This puts a strain on the emergency services needed by other people and it drives up the cost of medicine. This is a reason even ReTrumpliKKKlans should be able to understand since it does NOT involve science.

    2. It puts the unvaccinated at risk. The entire population of the United States under 12 years of age (our children) fall into this category. This argument won’t work with Rethugliclans since they don’t care about children (as evidenced by their lack of support for programs that benefit children). Putting children at risk is part of their personal freedom. So what if the infect other people’s children, those people shouldn’t have had those children in the first place if they weren’t prepared for the consequences. It’s the parent’s fault that their children may die.

If the medical profession had the same ethics as Republicans.

Patient: I think I have Covid

    Doctor: Have you been vaccinated?

    Patient: No.

Doctor: We can’t admit you. It would make our “numbers” look bad. Go away and die somewhere else.

A report on the morning news said a young man in his 20s with the Covid delta variant has received a double-lung transplant and has been hospitalized for months. He was the only one in his family who did not receive a vaccination because, according to his father, he wanted to wait and see what possible side-effects might occur. Sadly, now he knows. . . .

Not only that, they have to watch out for the intense smoke from all those forest fires caused by climate problems that Republicans think are imaginary.

Xenophobia means never having to say “Welcome”. Well, unless you’re actually selling something. Then they resentfully mutter “Thanks” while taking money from “the libs”.

A state with no meaningful gun control, combined with open-carry, no permits, and “stand your ground”, doesn’t exactly improve their chances of sucking in the tourists.

The MAGAstan state of FL, pissed off about those uppity BLM people, passed a law to arrest and imprison any protester blocking a street or highway.

But yesterday and today, it seems they’re looking the other way when anti-Cuba white protesters are blocking streets and highways.

DeSantis lamely said that “We already have laws against that.”

It begs the question: why pass another law, making the penalty more harsh and costly?

Duh? Those other people need to be specifically targeted to be beaten, imprisoned, fined, and thrown off the voting rolls.

The “Patriots” of January 6th, however, need to be set free.

“Living things tend to be complex and highly organized. They have the ability to take in energy from the environment and transform it for growth and reproduction. Organisms tend toward homeostasis: an equilibrium of parameters that define their internal environment. Living creatures respond, and their stimulation fosters a reaction-like motion, recoil, and in advanced forms, learning. Life is reproductive, as some kind of copying is needed for evolution to take hold through a population’s mutation and natural selection. To grow and develop, living creatures need foremost to be consumers, since growth includes changing biomass, creating new individuals, and the shedding of waste.

“To qualify as a living thing, a creature must meet some variation for all these criteria. For example, a crystal can grow, reach equilibrium, and even move in response to stimuli, but lacks what commonly would be thought of as a biological nervous system.

“Terrestrially, life is classified among four biological families: archaea, bacteria, eukaryotes, and viruses.

“Archaea are the recently defined branch that often survives in extreme environments as single cells, and they share traits with both bacteria and eukaryotes.

“Bacteria, often referred to as prokaryotes, generally lack chlorophyll (except for cyanobacteria) and a cell nucleus, and they ferment and respire to produce energy.

“The eukaryotes include all organisms whose cells have a nucleus – so humans and all other animals are eukaryotes, as are plants, protists, and fungi.

“The final grouping includes the viruses, which don’t have cells at all, but fragments of DNA and RNA that parasitically reproduce when they infect a compatible host cell. These classifications clarify the grand puzzle of existing life, but do little to provide a final definition.”
