Well those are two of the biggest disasters around. The biggest being gun violence in the U.S.

Well, they both ARE big bags of wind that leave nothing but destruction and chaos in their wake…

One Buttercup is equal to the amount of gun powder it would take to blow one’s nose.

It would seem to me that local news (non-cable, I mean) is much the same, as are newspapers, news journals (Time, Newsweek, and the like), because Trump, disasters, and hurricanes are news. So are mass shootings, global events, and a number of other topics. I’m trying to figure out if Mr. Stahler is saying it’s always “bad news” or if he’s suggesting people should just remain uninformed. If the former, he is regrettably correct. If the latter, he is espousing the Orwellian concept “Ignorance is Strength.”

As many have said, mass shootings must be listed, and at the top.

Prior to 24/7 cable news presidential election season was about one year. Under Bush2 it grew to 2 years, some thought due to wars, some thought due to Bush/Cheney policy, and some thought due to Bush/Republican/conservatives having crashed the economy. Now under tRump it’s grown past 2½ years, likely because so many can’t believe tRump was elected at all, and can’t perceive another tRump win, looking for an easy victory themselves.

I think that unless we go into a recession, tRump will win another term. I see no Democrat yet that can beat him for varying reasons. And I think that the Democrats are underestimating conservative ‘dirty tricks’ again.

The reason our Founders made the First Amendment, and made it first, was that the ‘Free Press’ is charged with the duty to inform WE, the People. That charge does not discern the truth or fiction of any media, that is WE, the People‘s job to do. But today’s cable news is not informing WE, the People nearly enough.

I am SO looking forward to the day that there is no mention of the current presidunce.

    That will drive him crazy.

And that’s part of the appeal.

It wasn’t always so. I remember way back when CNN had real news and reporters. I think that all died when the Republicans took over the legislature in ’96.
