He wasn’t perfect and a lot of the decisions he made were wrong in the eyes of many as a president goes, but as a product of his generation he at least did it presidentially and had some class. I won’t say he never lied but he never resorted to bullying, name calling, constant blaming, and didn’t have an over inflated ego! It’s just just a stark contrast from what we have now no wonder people are comparing.
I had some respect for Bush Sr until he went from calling Reagan’s policies “Voo-Doo economics” and supporting a woman’s right to choose to supporting all the things he had spoken against just for the “privilege” of being Reagan’s Vice-President with the option to be President after him. He lost what respect I had when he proved he was power>ethics. For some reason I never had this problem with Trump, I thought he was scum back in the seventies and nothing has changed my mind in the slightest, quite the opposite in fact.
Everyone suddenly becomes a wonderful person as soon as they are dead and can’t do any more damage. Bush Sr wasn’t that competent, intelligent, or moral. He was pretty ordinary, actually. He just looks like a saint compared to what we have now.
If a president did not possess within him/her almost equal measures of things admired and things despicable, he/she would unable to stand the pressures at the top. The measure of his/her effectiveness or ‘rightness’ comes in the weighing of the total and not the line-by-line dissection of his/her life/career. Thus the clause on balance one can say. . ..
Kinder and gentler on the outside. He was the driving force behind RR’s second term after the Alzheimer’s had taken over and he was in reality RR’s third term. Kinder and gentler on the outside but just as homophobic, racist, misogynist, bigoted, racist and fascist on the backside, if not more so.
I can just imagine in many decades, when George Bush Jr passes. All the leftist media will praise his politeness and kindness…his class. They won’t mention that they shamed him repeatedly and mercilessly for anything and everything and in every worse way possible. That is why we have, and why we need, President Trump. A President who won’t lay down and let anti-American and power-hungry leftists to run all over him.You created this. In physics it’s called the Normal Force. Every force exerted will have an equal force in opposition if equilibrium is to be maintained.

You could start it again but judging from the bile above, it wouldn’t last long. Some people really get their kicks being haters.

George H. Bush was the last president whose politics I mostly agreed with and who I could also respect.

I miss a President that was literate, and capable of speaking in coherent, complete sentences, unlike the current resident fat-ass.

Yes, we all miss kinder and gentler. (What’s with Stahler’s kooky looking depiction of Bush?).

Take a quick look at this – all you need to do is scan the charts in it.

Isn’t memory a wonderful thing, even if a bit faulty? The problem with “Kinder and gentler” is that it was neither.
