Surprisingly, my hospital charged less than the Medicare allowance for some procedures I had. The say the ACA will save them over $8 million a year.

If you want truth, don’t look at these forums. Check Consumer Reports.org. They’ve done some actual factual analysis with numbers. Obamacare is a pretty good deal.

Amazing how the majority American mindset is so counter to the best interests of humankind.

The “Affordable” Care Act is really a sham.…Since the traitors in the Supreme Court said it was constitutional—“as a tax”, but a tax paid to a private company who can still set their own rates, so that the people paying it are still paying different rates and health insurance carriers are still able to charge what they want.…Then there is what is happening here in California, where health insurance carriers such as Blue Cross/Blue Shield of California have raised their premiums up to 40% on their customers to continue coverage prior to the day when the “Affordable” Care Act is supposed to take effect—which is basically nothing more than “price gouging” when you get right down to it.…The costs of medical care will not go down with the number of people now having to buy medical insurance.…Instead, it will remain the same for a while and then start climbing upward again, and with more people paying these private companies for their health insurance and medical care, these private companies will make even more money, this time with the legal blessings given by the US Government and the Supreme Court, putting more people into this continuing crisis.…What needed to happen here was that the private, for-profit health insurance carrier should have been done away with as a primary insurer for even basic medical care and in its place was a public entity akin to National Health Service in the UK or even what Canada has and if the patient wanted extras that the basic coverage would not provide, then that is where the private carrier should be there granting coverage for those extras.…And since those with cavalier attitudes like to compare this with automobile insurance, then we need to compare the basic coverage to just plain old liability insurance that every automobile owner and driver are required to carry when driving, either their own vehicles or somebody else’s.…The checkup, the diagnosis and perhaps the remedy or cure should be considered basic medical care and should be covered for everybody with everybody paying the same rate for it—not like it is now where people in Modesto, California pay 3 times more for the same treatment that patients in Little Rock, Arkansas pay.…What should be extra in medical care is the kind of room a patient gets, cosmetic procedures, since they are not life-or-death issues, including reconstructive surgery for mastectomies that removed life-threatening cancer, the style of frames one wants for their eyeglasses, dental implants when the cap and posts will do.…And until we have actual reform in health care, not even “Obamacare” is going to solve this problem, but “kick the can down the road” to use a popular Californian term these days, meaning that they have postponed the inevitable, here, where the cost of medical care continues to rise and people still continue to pay different costs for the same procedures and treatment, just that more people now will be paying for these predatory business practices because the government is now ordering everybody to purchase health insurance from the same private companies that brought us the crisis by which the “Affordable” Care Act was supposed to solve.…And just like Paul O’Neill said at the 911 hearings beforeCongress about national security, “your government failed you”, here in providing universal health care to every citizen in America, instead creating more victims for the predators in the health care crisis to prey on.

    “@Justice22

The ACA will save your hospital $8 million next year? Could you please explain how?".According to their study, the savings will be in their Emergency Room where those without insurance presently receive primary care (and emergency care) and the tab is picked up by the hospital and those with insurance.

For the record, true liberals didn’t like Obamacare because it preserves the complex, profit driven insurance industry. We wanted a simple government run plan like Medicare which provides care at a lower cost than private insurance.Still, the ACA will bring coverage to a lot of people & it’s a start on reigning in the skyrocketing cost of health care.

Cost of medical care is an issue? Really? Do Republicans and Fox “news” viewers know that?-What are their suggestions to improve health care?-Before Obamacare was enacted, Mitch McConnell stated that the American health care system was the best in the world. So, I guess all that’s needed is to repeal Obamacare, yet again, and we can go back to having the best health care system in the world.-Keep government hands off Medicare!

You know it is funny, most, if not all of the Western Civilization Countries have quite successful National Health Care Systems. Health Care, unlike most commodities in a competitive market, tends to go to the highest provider due to uncontrolled costs and pricing, leaving a great many Americans without health care—except for emergency rooms (ER’s); conversely available ER’s are either not there or are closing due to their uncovered cost. Therefore Health Care, like food, dare not be left solely to laissez faire capitalism. Remember, any Nation that does not see to the welfare and wellbeing of the great majority of its citizens is a doomed Nation.
