Watching part of the hearings and listening to various commentary, I realized:
I still don’t like Bolton, but I think he was trying to do what he thought was the right thing. Trump knows that what he was doing was wrong, he just wanted to mine the chaos he created for whatever personal gain he could.
Trump pardons war criminals convicted of heinous, brutal violent crimes but is deporting soldiers who served honorably and who should have been awarded the path to citizenship they earned while cutting the budgets of Veterans Administration services once the heroes have returned and Trump, having used them and gotten from them what he wanted, can discard them.
This is what “military justice” and “support the troops” means in Trump world.
One more way to show the world that the US doesn’t care about decency or discipline. Sad. A reputation takes a lifetime to build and just a few minutes to spoil. It will take us years to undo what Trump has undone in such a short time. Fortunately, many observers worldwide realize that Trump doesn’t really speak for the US, and hope that this “experiment” teaches us a very important lesson.
The reason that Obama won a Nobel Peace prize is that the world was releasing its collective breath when Bush/Cheney’s cowboy diplomacy was no longer the guiding force for the free world. He got it because he wasn’t Cheney, and the world was glad.
The next president will be given a similar greeting in hopes that American leadership will again be something to emulate, rather than recoil from.
…And just when you think he’s hit rock-bottom….
trying to come up with some kind of sane reason for the pardons and it struck me that he was probably just envious because his bone spurs prevented him from also participating in war crimes…
There really is something mentally wrong with the Resident.
Navy Wants to Eject From SEALs a Sailor Cleared by Trump, Officials Say
The New York Times 1 day ago
The crassest appeal to the base yet. The victims were only some “rag heads”, Muslim, poor, of no concern.
Trump is pure poison, the Republicans are addicted to it.
Worst Commander in Chief since James Buchanan.
ALL HAIL THE CHIEF !
“CONVICTED” of war crimes
His supporters cheer the pardons because they think war crimes are okay if you are an American. They love torture, for example.
So he IS good for SOME veterans.
The pardons will bounce back and hit fatso in the puss. The military has ignored the pardons and is still taking action against the criminals.
What’s next… a retroactive pardon for Benedict Arnold? A Presidential Executive order for a “Celebrate Vidkun Quisling Week”
Quisling was put on trial during the legal purge in Norway after World War II. He was found guilty of charges including embezzlement, murder and high treason against the Norwegian state, and was sentenced to death. He was executed by firing squad at Akershus Fortress, Oslo, on 24 October 1945. The word “quisling” became a byword for “collaborator” or “traitor” in several languages, reflecting the contempt with which Quisling’s conduct has been regarded, both at the time and since his death.
trump is desperately trying to change the subject and media attention… and as the evidence against him rises.. we can expect more desperate divergences.
Now we know what a real Always Trumper looks like.
Still fewer on all sides died under Trump than did under Dubya. Just say’n.
W started two wars and destroyed the economy by lying over 8 years,
Liar Trump is destroying the country and has been in office less than 4 years.
