NCLB proponents.

No! Paying people a living wage and giving them pensions is socialism. Unless they’re in the top levels of corporations, in which case it’s their divine, God-given right and taking it away is socialism. It’s all socialism.

The number one attribute of successful schools is the average family income of the students in the school. We have a poverty problem in this country and it is getting steadily worse. We need to fight the poverty and its effects. There are not simple solutions to this complex problem. We should look to Finland. They raised teacher pay, but are very selective about who is qualified to teach. And they repsect the teachers.

And people wonder why I finally retired from a profession I love. It wasn’t age, I tell ya that. I just can’t seem to get along with School Administrators who sold their souls.

Good idea. Let’s start right now!

The last thing a ‘free country’ needs is a propaganda machine.

I love the conservative complainers here— so bitter, so selfish, so nasty, and so wrong about everything.

I see things haven’t changed much here.

If you really want to improve education, do it like the Japanese do. Teaching is respected on the level with doctors and lawyers, and paid accordingly, so they get the best graduates coming out of college. Then, they don’t have them doing anything but actual teaching, no playground or lunch room duty. They are treated as professionals, so they don’t lose 1/3 of the new teachers in the first five years. We do, because there is always an easier, better paying job for a college graduate.However, you do need to remember that holding the factory responsible for the quality of the product isn’t valid unless there is some quality control in the raw materials.

In reference the toon: Look in the mirror boys — you’re the problem and have always been the problem. You should have stayed out of it.
