The statement on “the female body” being able to shut things down was the creepiest ignorance I’ve EVER heard from a member of Congress. Pat Robertson? Maybe, but an elected representative???
What doe that even mean? a woman’s body has a way of shutting WHAT down?? a baby? Those little buggers don’t just curl up and die if they are from rape or incest! What shuts down? You mean a woman can keep herself from getting pregnant? If that worked we would have a LOT Fewer people. .A womans “lady parts” shutdown?? What does that mean??
If there is such as thing as “legitimate rape”, then what is “illegitimate rape”? I think there’s a suggestion that women make this up all the time, so it isn’t really rape, or maybe that they bring it on themselves. Does anyone have a better interpretation?
Michele Bachman is on the Intelligence Committee, so Akin can obviously be on the Science Committee. When I was raped at nine I didn’t even know what my vagina was for. This man has a wife and 2 daughters who love him? HOW?
Roughly half of all embryo (fertilized eggs) do NOT attach to the uterus and pass through the body. It doesn’t matter whether from rape, or consensual sex. Is this God committing a felony under the “personhood” amendment sought by Akins, AND RYAN??
Coyotes, among other species, will reabsorb the fetus of their young in “tough times”. Akins has demonstrated a little “canid intellect” on this issue, and Ryan is going to also be a dog of a candidate, so maybe Mitt should just start carting him around on top of the campaign bus??
Gosh, look it up in Wikipedia, under “Repubochirotida.” Akin was simply re-stating a scientific fact that females of his species can repell attackers through expellation of contubrial monomers thereby rendering themselves temporarily infertile and safe from harm. /
It is a process similar to that used by sea cucumbers and bestowed upon select human females by divine intervention. No embryo is harmed in the action, it is family friendly, and even the Vatican, Rick Santorum, and Michele Bachmann approve. /
Through right thinking and hard work, you may yet achieve this miracle, one of many that will soon be revealed in the party platform at the upcoming convention.
oh and lest we forget – this is not just the nutso pro-life Protestants – hello Ryan, hello orthodoxy – read it and weep:http://catholicexchange.com/head-of-pontifical-academy-for-life-reconfirms-morning-after-pill-cannot-be-used-even-in-cases-of-rape/
The pubs are just saying that if the Creator really had his act together he would have created women with the capacity to summon infertile juices when rape happened. Hey – that would truly be Intelligent Design. So a life destroyed by violent sexual predation would not have the added burden of motherhood.

I believe that material man-made climate change is a theory that is impossible to prove, therefore is by definition, unscientific, which makes it a matter of faith. There are several problems with your ideas in that sentence. First, in science a theory is a strongly supported aspect of the world, e.g., gravitation. I know what you think you mean in the sentence, but what you’ve said is pretty much the opposite of what you intended.Second, science doesn’t ever prove anything in the mathematical sense of a proof. It can disprove something and what remains are the things that have support. Some scientific ideas have more support than others. So if we accept what you said, nothing we know about the world could ever be scientific.Third, there is much that could be said about why anthropogenic climate change can be studied scientifically, but that veers even further from the point of the toon, so I’ll leave those corrections for another place and time. I’m sure you’ll oblige me by bringing this up again at that time.
“The American Right denies evolution, denies climate change, and now denies women can get pregnant through rape.”.And you have the nerve to chastise posters for exaggeration====The topic is rape, not evolution and climate change. And yes, as do the majority of Americans, I believe God created the heavens and the earth with purpose and not by chance. And I believe that material man-made climate change is a theory that is impossible to prove, therefore is by definition, unscientific, which makes it a matter of faith.

Thank you for this interpretation of Akin’s newly blossomed expertise in gynecology. That’s a thirteen-year-old girl with, no doubt, a !@#$%^&* lecher of a father, uncle, big brother, mother’s boyfriend, next door neighbor. Every time I look at this (I was molested when a child) I feel like I would like to commit murder.
“That seems to be too simple a challenge, am I missing the deeper question?”lol! No I’m just kidding with you . . . I guess I’ll have to go digging for a tougher ornithology/botany question!Although you did rip the question up . . . I didn’t think of the fact that the commercial strawberry hybrid is really only ‘symbiotic’ with humans . . .

Thank you for explaining the fancy science word for Todd Akin. Unfortunately now he thinks we must be talking about witches.

Are you surprised? Look we ALL know the Tea-Party repubs want to turn America into a feudal society, and this fits in with that perfectly
You see, during the middle ages, conventional wisdom said that the more a woman enjoyed the act of sex, the more likely she was to conceive.
Therefore, if you got pregnant, you MUST have enjoyed it, and it WASN’T rape.

Wat was the title of that documentary and where did you see it?
( I don’t think you did, I think you only HEARD ABOUT it )

Have you any idea how Todd Akin – and his voters – look to us here in he UK?
There’s a fear that the country that was once the standard bearer for the Western world is retreating into a dark age of superstition and violence.

A new defense in rape cases: This wasn’t a legitimate rape so the defendant should be freed.
