He’s not about anything except maintaining his power. Certainly not about consistency: He pushed HARD for acceptance of Citizens United, saying that all corporations should have the same power to influence legislation, not just the ones that (who?) own media. He’s not about morality. He’s not about keeping his word. He’s not about upholding his oath of office. The fact that we accept him (as we accepted the orange Mistake) in a position of power makes me sure that our system is imperfect…
Mitch shows us how foolhardy/hypocritical the Citizens United decision was by getting himself caught in the quasi-conservative pro-business trap that an irrational SCOTUS ruling set.
Is the Ol’ Turtle biting the hands that feed him? Yes, but he knows full well that corporate brass will still give pols the money because they MUST, if they want continued influence in legislation.
Mitch McConnell should have a parade balloon in his image. It would follow Trump’s whining baby-in-a-diaper balloon. McConnell’s would be dressed in a suit, with its hand out, and with bulging pockets filled with corporate donations. Either that, or a swollen head Mardi Gras character.
Of course, the nattering nayboobs don’t want to hear about Costco, Rite Aid, Magla Products, Martha Stewart Living, Estee Lauder, Guess, Calvin Klein, Liz Claiborne, Levi Strauss, Olan Mills, Seagrams, Gallo, Hyatt, just to name a few, that donated for the Democrats. That’s all good!
Perhaps the funniest example of this is how Georgia ordered all Coke products removed from state offices. The funny part is that apparently Coke had been donating all of that.
Should wives who are part of organized crime families also stay out of politics? Or Russian oligarchs? Moscow Mitch wouldn’t have one tenth the money he has without ’em!
Oh, they will. After Ol’ Joe blind-sided some of his huge supporters with a proposed 7% increase in the corporate income tax rates, they might think twice about pushing him across the finish line. How do you like them apples, Facebook, Google, CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, etc.?
I am reminded when seeing the Republicans in action of the ignorant and repressive regimes of Germany and Japan prior to and during World War 2. The resemblance is striking.
Would be a good idea. However, the system now depends on it, rather than listening to the majority. Those who are affected by corporations and congress’ decisions.
You know, all the liberals, socialists, democrats, cartoonists like to rag on the Republicans about corporate donations, well, you all forget, democrats get just about as much corporate money as the Republicans. Corporations tend to hedge their bets by giving to both parties. The democrats also get millions in extortion money, I mean union money that the Republicans don’t get. Why doesn’t anyone complain about that?

I agree, corporations should stay out of politics. Stop giving money to the Republicans today.
Or at least buy a better grade of congressional minions.

Someday, I’ll remember Moscow Mitch as being hilarious.
These days it’s way too soon and too painful.

Corporations have lackeys like you Mitch. How much have you taken over the years in “donations”? We all know what that is a euphemism for too.

Murderous Moscow Mitch tells corporations to “shut up and give me money”.
apfelzra Premium Member 13 days ago
He also qualified that statement by saying that corporations giving money to politicians (especially him) was still OK.

Pretty much McMoscow Mitch’s attempt to pleasure the MAGAts who believe “voter fraud” can only be solved by “voter suppression”.

Remember… Qpublicans define an “Honest Politician” as “One who once he is Bought, STAYS BOUGHT!”
Also, maybe they should all wear NASCAR-type Jumpsuits with their corporate owner’s logos displayed so we can see exactly who is owned by who.
