    Coal & oil left in the ground? Sounds like a good start. I find it amazing that folks find that terrible.

    Payne should know that the 0-60 times of a Tesla are as good as, or better than, Posches and other “performance” cars. We do need to key that to cleaner forms of electrical generation.

    BTW: coal, oil and natural gas are all millions of years to create, and they ARE actually finite. Renewables ARE renewable, and can greatly expand how long those sources will last for future generations, called “posterity”, that profit margins don’t include in “costs”.

    Just when you thought Payne’s cartoons couldn’t get any dumber.

    What is U.S. electricity generation by energy source?

    In 2014, the United States generated about 4,093 billion kilowatthours of electricity.1 About 67% of the electricity generated was from fossil fuels (coal, natural gas, and petroleum).

    Major energy sources and percent share of total U.S. electricity generation in 2014:

    Coal = 39%Natural gas = 27%Nuclear = 19%Hydropower = 6%Other renewables = 7%Biomass = 1.7%Geothermal = 0.4%Solar = 0.4%Wind = 4.4%Petroleum = 1%Other gases < 1%https://www.eia.gov/tools/faqs/faq.cfm?id=427&t=3

    YES we need to leave the coal in the ground as quickly as we (USA) can replace coal fire plants with other forms of generation. Coal is an economic jump starter that the US & Some,other countries no longer need.

    There is a gas station in Henry Payne’s home state of Michigan selling gas for 47 cents a gallon.

    The Historically LOW price of Gas is proof that the Oil companies are worried about the inroads various forms of Energy Efficiency are making into their Profits..Some of the savings comes from the fact that cars really ARE using a lot less gas..Some is the Oil companies cutting the Profit Margins as low as possible to make Alternative energy look like a Bad Deal.

    What exactly is wrong with not using carbon-fuelled electricity and with leaving the coal and the oil in the ground?
