Cars have been an important part of Gasoline Alley over the years. I’m sure we’ve all seen some classic strips on that subject.

Guess this leads to a new Gasoline Alley story arc dealing with parking spaces for the grocery store.

She used the contraction “there’re” (I grew up with it) because the predicate is plural! She did not use the singular “there’s”! Go, Gertie!

A grocery store in downtown Chicago had no parking lot. CTA took you there and a line of cabs was waiting to take you home. HomeDepot parking was on the roof and you paid for parking if your ticket wasn’t stamped.

Dot like going to Walmart anymore!!!! Have to stand in line while the person ahead of you is doing price checks!!! If that isn’t bad enough then you have to do a cashiers job !!! They want 15.00 an hour?? Really?

They should tear down the store and expand the parking lot.

“It is estimated in America, there are 8 parking spots for every car, covering up to 30% of our cities, and collectively taking up about as much space as the state of West Virginia.” (Vox, The High Cost of Free Parking)

Frank King over-stitching some threads, with first Sally meeting Nina at last, and now an old girlfriend from high school days turns up in Detropolis…

Are we getting another dose of ‘chick magnet’ Skeezix trying to keep a bevy of ladies happy?

Meanwhile that’s another nickel that Elmer would have inherited one day, if not for the unspeakable tragedy…

Here in Bend, OR, there are 200 miles of wide open nothing to the east. But try finding a parking spot at Costco.

Not really. There is a freeway in Orange County, California that for a brief stretch has a whopping seven lanes in each direction. But that freeway is just as crowded as the ones that only have three or four lanes in either direction. Kinda gives a whole new meaning to, “If you build it, they will come”……
