This may be in the Varvel universe, but, in the real world the actual trouble with the republicans is that they’ll Lie, Cheat, Steal and break every Law they can to destroy Democracy in the United States. Their followers are even worse.
Trump is destroying the Republican “plane” much more than the Lincoln Project did. Not saying that the Lincoln Project are saints, but if Trump continues to embarrass Republicans and splits the GOP then it will be very turbulent flying for any conservative trying to win office…
It is difficult to contain my joy at this. In my eyes, the Terry Shiavo affair early in this century was a point at which the pivot began – and I said so at the time. The only surprising thing is that it has taken this long (20 or so years), and this much, for the crumbling to become so manifest.
I’ve been posting for over a year that both major parties are disintegrating. The Republican party appears poised to be replaced by a right wing populist party of Trump enthusiasts, and a right leaning remnant Republican core party. The Democrat dissolution promises to be messier, as they are already in a protracted knife fight between a Marxist hard left faction and a Liberal/Progressive old guard; the Dems struggle is further complicated and intensified by entitlement oriented identity group sub-factions who are quite willing to attack each other over their respective shares of influence.
The Lincoln Project, though welcomed as ‘the enemy of my enemy’ was never anything more than Republican/conservatives eating Republican/conservatives. They all learned their dirty tricks at the same place, and now it is turned against those in the Lincoln Project.
The Republican Party began in the 1854 as the Liberal party in the U.S. Lincoln, a Liberal, was their first elected president. The Republican Party had a Liberal wing well into the 1960s, and last led by Thomas Dewey. It was Nixon’s ‘Southern Strategy’ in 1968 that began the conversion of conservatives in the South to the GOP. Imagine the South supporting ‘the party of Lincoln’. The joke was on them. If Lincoln were president today Republican/conservatives would impeach him.
Flight Attendant as plane taxis to runway: I would remind you that on Trump HotAir we are contractually referred to as “Sexy Stews”. And while we have never been trained in any way, you will have to admit that we all look a lot like Ivanka. Oh…my co-worker has just informed me that you will all have to immediately disembark as 1) this plane has insufficient fuel owing to the refusal of the jet fuel company to give us any until we pay our bill and 2) Trump HotAir has just gone bankrupt. Enjoy your walk back to the terminal!
