Varvel doesn’t seem to understand Media headlines favor actual substance. Something Conservatives haven’t bothered with for the last 12 years. Varvel still has foxnews, Breitbart, and Limbaugh to promote their empty declarations and right wing rumors.
The world we live in is analog, not a binary world and our most useful tools are alloys, composites, and hybrids with better properties than can be found in any single element. To govern a nation, its laws must also be an amalgam of ideologies resulting in a consensus with properties better than can be realized with any single ideology. For this to work, there must be a mutual agreement to use objectivity and critical thinking rather than just emotion in forming opinions. The Kochs, Mercers, Adelson, et al, have spent hundreds of millions on disinformation/propaganda attacking liberal views and on making a highly emotional (but irrational) alt-reality appear to be a beneficial solution for the middle class when in reality it benefits the wealthy most. Varvel does not seem to mind being manipulated.
There’s more than a little truth in that cartoon. I am a Democrat and subscribe to the print NYT . Since 2016 there’s rarely a day without a negative Trump story – even when there isn’t a story.
They have to keep demoting the editors who lie for Republicans.
16 hours ago – A high-ranking editor at The New York Times was demoted following recent incidents that resulted in a heavy backlash on social media. The Times confirmed to Fox News on Tuesday that the editor, Jonathan Weisman, has been demoted for his “serious lapses in judgment.”
In late July, Weisman deleted a tweet amid outrage after he suggested Democratic Reps. Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar were not truly from the Midwest and their colleague Rep. John Lewis, a prominent figure in the civil rights movement, was not from the Deep South. The tweets were widely viewed as racist.
Last week, Weisman tweeted that the Justice Democrats were backing a candidate “seeking to unseat an African-American Democrat.” Weisman seemingly failed to realize the candidate in question was black.
Shortly after, Roxane Gay, an author who occasionally writes op-ed pieces for The Times, mocked Weisman for the tweet.
According to Gay, Weisman emailed her, her assistant and her book publisher saying she owed him an “enormous apology.”
Gay reacted to the emails from Weisman saying she was “legitimately shocked.”A spokesperson for The Times said after the incident that Weisman had “repeatedly displayed poor judgement on social media and in responding to criticism.”
“We’re closely examining what to do about it,” the Times spokesperson said.
This Trumper person shot an Antifa person at the UW. Although it was clear that the Trumper with the gun was the aggressor, the Trumpers in the Jury said he was innocent. Now the they have to do the whole trial over.
Varvel’s nightmare: Editors who actually check facts and insist on the same from everybody who they employ. “Headline Editor” is just the thin edge of the wedge.
Well, at least a democrat can spell, punctuate and form coherent sentences. We all know that the GOPers can’t, and the MAGAts seem to think that would be un – Merukin.
I don’t believe that donkey represents democrats. No, he’s a former writer from Hee Haw brought in to appeal to Trump supporters. I’m a pickin’ and…nobody’s grinnin’. Oh well…

Varvel is right. Truth and facts have a liberal bias.

Look no further than your mirror, Mr. Varvel for an example of bias.

Varvel is very upset that the Times made its headline more accurate.

There is no law prohibiting that. Otherwise FOX would be out of business.

I guess Varvel prefers the ‘once upon a time’ style of Fox and the National Enquirer
