Another fun fact 13% of budget is welfare,Budget is about 24% of gdp, to make it easy that is about2.7% of GDP going to welfare. Big drain on the country right ?

29,900,000 get SOME assistance. Only 1.7% of the 310 million rely on welfare for 50% of their assistance.http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_percentage_of_people_in_US_are_on_welfare

As “Rock” points out, there’s no need to rely on facts, when folks like Rush, et al, even ’toonists, can make their own up on the fly, and their trolls will accept the “gospel according to Rove”.

“Man does not wish to be dependent on others, its against his nature..children… a different story…”

Yes it is a different story, and when you want to delve into that story, please begin by explaining how we are seeing 2 and 3 generations of families that are welfare recipients. I do agree with educating and training people to make them productive and hopefully to instill the sense of pride that comes from being self sufficient.

And yet let us touch not the sacred military budget, amounting to 4% of GDP post sequester, nor should we risk trying to bring in 2.7% of GDP as revenue. Additionally considering that the budget has not tripled for welfare, 30% is not a triple

My guess is that he is waiting in line for his Social Security and Medicare. All actuarial studies indicate that the average wage earner will receive his contributions to those two programs back within 10 years – Sounds like welfare to me after that!
