There have been at least a couple of strips in the past where Garfield was discussing about cats being attracted to at least one person who is allergic to them.
It’s not being mean when a cat hangs out with the person who doesn’t want them – whether allergies or dislike. Cats hate being focused on by strangers as it feels dangerous. So if in a roomful of people, there’s one trying to avoid the cat, the cat will go to that person as a place of safety.
I’m allergic to cats, but I’m fortunate enough to live in a universe which isn’t part of their cartoon universe. Highly unlikely I’ll be running into them.
