When I was a kid, we had a basset hound that could absolutely run for miles. She took off after a bear one time and Dad didn’t catch up to her until a few hours later.
Our mini-dachsies were normally sedentary. But once in a while, one would get a case of the “zoomies” and start running in circles around the living room. The other would join in. Usually they would end up crashing into each other, causing a bit of “run rage” with growling and an occasional snap of teeth, at which time hubby or I would have to intervene, after we stopped laughing.
