Frazz occasionally gets an incentive.

Dogs don’t seem to mind (aren’t bothered by) the smell of their own … stuff.

I ain’t eatin’ those cookies. No way.

Three times! THREE TIMES!in one week, and I still never found where the neighbors dog had been. And you find out when you get in the car that a stick is not enough to get everything out of the crevices.

Dogs seem to treat smells as informational. We do that with sight. Ugly, horrible sights are not physically discomforting like ugly, horrible smells are.

I don’t know where the cookies are, but it looks like she found a fresh meadow muffin.

After a surgery to repair my nose it was plugged for several weeks so the bones/cartilage could set. When the doctor pulled the plugs, literally, I walked out of the hospital and was overcome with the smell of dog poop. I didn’t see it but breathed through my mouth until I got to the ice cream shop, but when I walked thru the door I could smell sugar, not as gross, but still overpowering. As a result I think we ignore or turn down our ability to smell.

File this under “things a janitor would notice more quickly than anybody else”.

They say that we can smell just as well as a dog if we put our nose right at the ground.
