Some bad habits are HARD to notice. Learning your own tells in poker, e.g. Or running with your shoulders moving too much. Or typing with one arm on the chair-arm. (yeah).
It’s much easier to stop breathing for awhile if you’ve been breathing for a long time …
… than it is to start breathing for awhile if you haven’t been breathing for a long time.
Nice and easy does it every time!
Because bad habits usually have a short-term good side.
Because bad habits are easier, and we are biologically programmed to do what is easy to save resources and survive longer.
Because good habits usually support long term benefits and bad habits usually are about instant gratification. And, of course, what Frazz seems to be saying, normal people aren’t interested in getting rid of good habits.
This kid’s too smart for his own good! ….. again!!!
Most of everything we do is a habit. We just notice the bad things more than the good things.
Made me chuckle.
Looks like Mr. M has been reading the complaints in these comments. Nice acknowledgement.
