I sure wish my feet were a standard shape and size. (sighs) Not that I’d be a runner anyway, but it would be nice to put on a pair of comfortable shoes and not feel the need to take them off until bedtime.
IIRC, the basic premise of this strip is that Frazz has a comfortable income as a songwriter and only does the janitorial gig because he likes kids. So why is it that we hear 50 times more about running than we do about singing?
I used to be a pretty hard core runner. Age and my family’s generally wonky knees have caught up with me. Did run a lot of marathons including Boston (which one has to qualify for). I may never have to buy more hacking around shoes.
exercise for its own sake is a waste of time. If you have a goal and exercising can help you succeed that’s great. BTW you can exercise for health, but doing a ultramarathon is in my opinion is a dead end.

I don’t have trail running shoes. It’s too difficult to find dirt running trails these days.

The Ventures had a song: Walk, Don’t Run. As I aged it became my theme song… especially when my running friends began having knee replacements.
