I’ve noticed that most cheap places fry all their food in the same oil so all their fried food taste like fish to me.

Who goes to a fish n’ chips place and orders a grilled cheese? Psychotics?

I really enjoyed that one. I never understood the goldfish cracker concept, but kids love them. Must be something like the Kraft Dinner addiction, some things are indeed beyond me.

Goldfish crackers make more sense than that punchline.

There was something fishy about that butler. I think he was a pisces, probably working for scale.

Even if you don’t reuse the oil, some fish are strong enough to permeate everything else they serve. When our college cafeteria did scrod, there was no point in eating anything else on the menu, it was gonna taste like fish anyhow.

I’ve seen cakes shaped like hamburgers and other foods completely different in taste and texture.

Grilled cheese sandwich, chicken strips, tater-tots and a PBnJ sandwich are available at most “family” restaurants because every kid ever will accept one of those things and actually eat part of it. Usually a burger, too, for larger kids who still aren’t adventurous enough to branch out to “real grownup food” (though what our familty calls a “melted witch” was part of my lunch today: Comfort food).

Anyone who’s still skeptical about the ease of cross-contamination in food (or just about anything else) needs only to order a grilled cheese at a diner that also fries a lot of fish. It gets pretty clear in a hurry.

Though it doesn’t do anything to explain why Goldfish Crackers taste more like cheese than they do like fish.
