    I am of Scottish ancestry … occasionally my ancestors would say, “What the devil is that bright yellow round thing up there in the sky?”

    The nice thing about riding in the Rain is, if you take a cake of soap along and lather-up at stoplights, you don’t need to take a shower when you get home!

    I don’t mind being out in the rain myself so much, but I like to keep my bike dry. Replacing rusty parts sucks.Also, you ever notice how hard it is to stop a bike once the wheels get wet?

    On one ride we returned with icicles hanging from our bottom brackets. Ah, memories…..

    My wife is of the opinion that if it isn’t heated, air-conditioned or otherwise temperature controlled, she isn’t going.

    Radical-Knight: My wife claims that too, but I think she just doesn’t like band music.

    A friend insists that the slight numbness engendered by long hours “in the saddle” aid in his keeping his Lady satisfied when he’s “in the saddle” (she’s a “slow starter” apparently.)

    @Marc with a C

    ““I love adventures, as long as they have indoor plumbing!””

    Which reminds me of my long-ago little mountain cabin with no indoor plumbing and an outhouse up the hill. Ours had no door, so you could watch the wildlife, the rain, the snow, the flickering firelight through the cabin windows… And the thing is, you had to go there no matter what the weather was, including in the middle of the night, so you got used to running up the path in bare feet, and sometimes bare everything, even in snow!

    Yes, Frazz, we know Rule #9. That said, riding in the rain sucks. Plus, this time of year rain is usually accompanied by lightning, which scare the bejeezus out of me to ride in. Got caught in hail last week. That’s a lot of fun, too.

    I grew up in western Oregon, where you get pretty used to doing things in the rain, but for me anyway, that wouldn’t include riding a bike!

    I do remember him saying that. It’s good to see some obscure continuity
