Back in the 1960s, the Church started celebrating the mass in the vernacular instead of Latin. Latin is a dead language. It does not change with time, so its meaning is the same. It may be translated today differently than it was a half century ago since OUR side of the translation has changed.
The Church still has the same dogma as it did in the 1960s (and pretty much since the 4th century). There is a parallel here. The dogma should not change but its interpretation should.
The world is not the same as in the 4th century. Society and peoples have changed. We are no longer ruled by emperors, we have social media, medical advances, scientific breakthroughs, hand-held weapons that can kill as many people in a minute as a legend could kill in a day and state-held weapons that can obliterate life on the planet.
There is also the same problem in business. Companies expect the new work force to adapt to 1950’s management styles (one shoe fits all) instead of managing people on an individual basis. It is no longer a matter of “We know what’s good for you.”
