Blessed are the Poor in Spirit. He may be burdened with external trappings of material things, but he does have a spirit like St. Francis.
Clothes (or fancy chairs) do not necessarily make the man. Glad he understands that.
he sees that having/or wanting is not a comfort to the soul peace comes from within
The people make the church…Francis shows that the people are the most important thing to God, not the possessions/material things they have.
Another point to ponder: “The church should ‘look Catholic’. In other words, it should proclaim by its distinctiveness that it is not just an auditorium or a non Catholic place of worship. This is because we proclaim our Catholic faith with confidence and joy. A church building that ‘looks Catholic’ helps to do that.”
And I was quoting from a Priest
His “humble” plain robes were custom tailored of silk and velvet and the Vatican will not disclose what they cost. Even his shoes are hand-made:
Don’t let the “look how humble I am” act fool you.
