I once did both sides of Who’s on First (Solo) for my Toastmasters group for one of the “Interpretive Reading” projects. Great fun, but boy was that tough to jump between Abbot and Costello every line.
Sorry, this doesn’t work. The Whos are always identified with an article (a Who, the Who, etc.) except for “little Cindy Lou Who”. Once you add the modifier, the joke doesn’t work anymore.
How Dr. Who got his name was actually part of the joke. In the first episode 2 teachers from Susan (the Dr’s grandaughter) school follow her home to meet her guardian/grandfather. Chesterfield, Susan’s science teacher), refers to her grandfather by the last name Susan’s been using at the school and the Dr turns to him and says, “Dr. Who?” and that’s how the good Dr got his name.
“When they pay the first baseman, who gets the money?” “Every dollar.” “Who picks up the check?” “Of course. Well, sometimes his wife picks it up.” “Who’s wife?” “Yes.”

That routine has lasted a loooong time. One of my favorites is “Slowly I Turn”.

Given what happens when Abbot and Costello start talking about baseball, I’d hate to see what would happen if they met the doctor…

Now we can add Gwen Stefani’s old group to the routine. No Doubt.

There was a great take on “Who’s on First” on Anamaniacs when Aunt Slappy and (what ever the young squirrel’s name was) went to Woodstock.
