I was always weak in Math. One day my 9th grade Algebra teacher assigned homework and said, “Remember, all the answers should be even numbers.” I kept getting odd numbers for some of the answers and kept re-doing the problems over and over. The next day I came to class and told the teacher, “I kept getting odd numbers when you said the answers should be even numbers.” The teacher laughed and said, “I meant the answers should be whole numbers.” That discouraged me from doing math for the rest of the term.

I was better at geometry than algebra in high school. With my brother, it’s reversed.

Don’t know how I managed but got an A in Algebra. All I could manage was a C in Geometry. Didn’t go any further.

Algebra & Geometry require totally different types of thinking.

Never took Algebra, took some Geometry. I would imagine though that Algebra has more to do with life in the real world than geometry or advanced math. My idea of Algebra though is this:

A Big Mac costs $4.59. You give the cashier $5.00. Your change is n. Solve for n.

Geometry really helped me later in life….in the pool hall. Or as the Clampetts said….The Billiard Room. I think it was a stuffed rhino head that they refered to as a Billiard.

I couldn’t stand Trig but then my Geometry teacher never taught, loved Algebra and Cal wasn’t too bad.

loved trig and algebra in high school – it was like puzzles for me … hated geometry and later calculus in college – made me change my major from engineering to business (and just WHY can you never find the absolute space under a curve? Hmmmm?) … and I never used any of my college in my job for tech support – go figure (but no college loans, either, in CSULB system.)
