I’ve learned that a bad job is worse than no job at all …

… for me, anyway. For my family, it all depends.

It kind of depends on your need to eat. In a bad economy, when it’s next to impossible to find a new job, keeping the bad job is probably the better option. This toon was written during a pretty solid economy, so quitting seemed feasible. A man I know quit his nasty job just before the economy tanked, and now he’s doing odd jobs and barely scraping by.

I work pt unable to get full time been and continue past 8 years. Where I’m hurting is higher education. And where I work at there are budget cuts going. I don’t work in sales or state or Fed. I wonder if each state does what CA Governor wants done lower wages especially state wages down to min how many would apply for state positions? I’ve heard where I work at they would not work for min wage. It’s a job though may not be great for work accuracy. Then what area could close?

I know it is easier to get a new, better job, if you search and find it before quitting your other job. I have a brother who quit a good job in the late 80’s and spent all his 401K savings on a trip to Europe. Ever since then, he has rarely been employed, and never at near the wage or benefits he had previously. Sad thing is, where he was working, he could have just taken an unpaid leave of absence, and a loan from his 401K, then still had a job when he returned. Instead, he’s lived worse than many illegal aliens. Even if a person doesn’t like his or her job, don’t quit until you have something better!
