Saint Michael screwed up, he knows it, and he looks to Elly to save him. She wants to just dismiss his bad behavior… Which will only enable him to do more bad behavior in the future.

I guess it’s fair to ask the question… If Michael had been driving Elly’s car, he jumped on the freeway to go fast and then he ended up getting a lost… Would John still be peeved?

Umm, no. No, I think not. This is between the lender and the lendee regarding the lend-ed. The cleanup crew can patch the results after I’m through.

40 minute round trip??? The skating rink was only 2 blocks away. Should have been 15 minutes, tops.

At least hear him out, John! Don’t react out of your feelings (fear driven anger)! The car is not damaged, he doesn’t have alcohol on his breath, don’t assume the worst! You raised a good kid, put some faith in that!

Hey John, since you love the car more than your family members, just a friendly reminder that the sports car is not going to be much help when you are down and out. It is not going to say “I love you” back.

I commented yesterday about how I got the hug, then the spanking for disappearing after school once. I think that this is almost the equivalent. John is so relieved that Michael is in one piece and not bleeding that he’s allowing his anger to get the better of him.

I am just happy that he got the car returned undamaged.

he had himself all worked up while waiting for Michael to return that he didn’t think there was another explanation than to defy him and not keep his word to return when he said he would. It was smart of him to talk with his mom who at this moment is more level-headed and not as vested in the car as he is.

A forty minute round trip? I saw that map; it should have been twenty minutes, tops.

Just say, No immediate punishment… but the next time you drive is after you buy, and insure, your own car.

I would think John would be intensely relieved that Michael, a nd his “baby” are both home, together, safely, and unscathed! Temper comes later, when its been tempered.

Mom would love to be the councel of defense. They usually are, when the kids cornered.

I guess what really irritates me is that stupid smile on Saint Michael’s face in panel four. There’s no remorse for his wrongdoing, just gloating that he is going to be protected.
