My Mom tried 3 times and on her 4th attempt, it was during a major rainstorm. The Instructor asked if she wanted to come back and she said “No, If I don’t do this Now I never will”. She drove the Course in the driving rain and when done, her Instructor said “Lady, if you can drive through THIS, you can drive through ANYTHING”. She Passed.

Hmmm…was Mike listening to his mom? She asked if he passed and he said he did yet he was remembering the failed exam and is hugging his teddy. If he passed, he’d hop to his mom and give her the best news of his life. He did not so I’d say he did not pass and lied to his mom.

Ellie, do you really have to ask Mike if he passed or not bearing in mind his body language? ;/

I wonder if he ‘borrowed’ the teddy bear from Elizabeth or April…

At least the examiner smiled at him once

I knew one tester who had to be fired for giving too many fails. They had her test 5 male and 5 female professional drivers. She only passed 3 women!

O.K., Michael. Regroup. Get it together, then retake the test.

You gota learn how to deal with the Hi’s and Low’s in life Michael. But at least you know that you are alive. Only the dead feel no pain. Or triumph for that matter.

All the best people fail their first driver’s test. My first test was on a day when my ADHD was particularly bad. I did so badly, I didn’t even get to finish the test. My retest was on a day when my ADHD wasn’t nearly as bad. And even though the examiner had a reputation for being tough (her nickname was Sarge), I got a near perfect score.

Oh, he passed? When this originally ran I thought he failed the first time. I could be wrong.

He just needs more practice and less distractions. :P

Hy don’t you folks cut. Ichael some slack?

I thought I’d do better taking my test with my mother’s automatic transmission land yacht. I barely bumped the rear post while parallel parking and failed because I had an “accident.” The next time I drove my father’s tiny manual transmission economy car and slipped into the parallel parking space without having to back in. The tester had no reason to fail me for that – you just had to get the vehicle into the space properly without hitting the posts.

I often wonder when boys and men have such a hard time talking about their problems, women need to talk about them.

There are drivers in this world who still can’t do any of those things.

MAD Magazine decades ago had a perfect sound effect in a similar story line: FLUNK!!!!

Saying goodbye to a best friend is brutal. The finality to it is so heart wrenching, for me at least.

Michael can explain to Elly that that he ended up with a niggardly examiner. Since Elly knows so much about grammar, she will understand perfectly.

Wait, so he passed? I’m confused. He responded with “yeah” when she asked if he passed… hmmmm

Should have answered mom with a no, not a yeah.

Did he just give the impression to his mom that he passed his test? He lied to his mom? The shame of it! He’s going to have more on his mind than Martha.

I had a driving test where the instructor really didn’t care or pay attention. I wondered if I really passed or just benefitted from his indifference.

There are going to be bigger problems than that in life. Trust me. Hopefully something was learned….

I really despise Martha for this, but oh well. It is a sucky life lesson for him, but he will learn to get back up again. Just don;t give her a ride anywhere when you finally pass the test.

Never mind, he answered “Yeah” when his mother asked if he passed. He wouldn’t lie to his mother would he?

A bruised heart… cheap price for a valuable lesson.

I failed my first Learner’s Permit test and it was at the end of Driver’s Ed! Everybody around me was so happy. Me and 2 or 3 others just wanted to die from embarrassment. I thought some of the questions were so badly framed they were impossible to answer. Maybe it was just stress. I got it the 2nd time, though, with no wrong answers. Life, amirite?

If every exam tester was that nasty, no one would ever pass their driving test.
