Poor Wally. And every other dog. Bring your pet inside and put him in a room with a tv or radio on so he can’t hear the fireworks. Probably works well with cats too.

Is Wally afraid of the fireworks or that he’ll be mistaken as a hot dog in some goofy contest?

I do not believe that I have ever seen such a sensitive dog before.

Do they put Wally outside so he won’t get traumatized by Orville Redenbacher kernels popping in the microwave?

Wally has plans and is all set for the trauma incurred because of the 4th. Smart dog.

They may not do much right, but the Drabbles certainly know how to pick flags for their home!

Sheela has super-hearing and it’s impossible to block the fireworks/thunder/etc. Might work if we had a basement, but the last six houses I’ve owned didn’t have one.

My dogs are not afraid at all. I have never made a big deal bout the fireworks. At the beginning, I kept the radio on, now I do nothing. They are fine with it.

The dogs we had growing up weren’t bothered by them. All my cats have been moved in from outside, so not much scares them. I’m more afraid of thunder than any of them, so I can’t even get them to comfort me.

Thanks for the reminder to change our flags. We have a July 4th one for the cats and one for the horse.

I’ve never much cared for fireworks and sudden or unexpected loud bangs make me extremely nervous (for any number of reasonably good reasons).

I really hate to think what someone with PTSD has to go thru during these holidays where fireworks are common. Not to mention the effect on pets and the fire danger from selfish idiots with no self discipline. And I’m just willing to bet that many, if not most, of these self entitled, so called patriots, never served even a month of active duty with the military.

I can stand the occasional professional displays… but then they start at a specified time and only last a very brief while and are done safely and sanely.
