Is this why New Year’s resolutions are considered insane?

This is deep. The quote is attributed to Einstein. However, the essence of quantum mechanics is that the results of exactly similar experiments can and do vary. Einstein also famously said “God does not play dice” (in his debates with Bohr). Current thinking is that Einstein was wrong (Bell’s theorem) on this one. Was comic strip artist Kevin opening a deeply philosophical debate, or just taking his usual cheap shot at Norman?

I think it was Hawking that noted: God does indeed play dice, and he throws them where we can’t even see them all.

Quantum mechanics turned out to be a LOT more complicated than we thought in Einstein’s time.

That’s one old saying that is just dead wrong! That’s called practice in trying to improve your game. The REAL definition of insanity is firmly believing in something that can easily be proven to be false.

That’s also the definition of a lousy memory.

BTW, that pretty heady for Norm.

Weirdly, today’s Magnificatz uses the same quote. https://www.gocomics.com/magnificatz/2020/01/06

Anytime this quote comes up, my response is, “Never used a computer, have you?”
