Caddies seems right… Tom Paxton’s song Lyndon Johnson Told the Nation, about the experience of draftees… “We go round in helicopters Like a bunch of big grasshoppers Searching for the Viet Cong in vain They left a note that they had gone They had to get down to Saigon Their government positions to maintain.”
I remember reading these strips in the first run. I worked with a couple of Vietnam vets and they found it sad that Trudeau would make light of the suffering they and the Vietnamese people went through. They could understand the tourism draw, because according to them, the country itself is beautiful.
Mr. Trudeau must have known his history. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Vietnam But that particular theme park (thankfully) never got off the ground and folded due to insolvency (and really just a plethora of horrible decision making)
sounds like a REALLY BAD idea, especially with so many vets getting lost in PTSD and maybe not understanding it’s like a civil war recreation, and taking it WAAAAAY too far. :(

What could possibly go wrong?

I could never see the appeal of the games the Civil War reenactment boys get into. Why stop at war? Let’s reenact famine, plague, genocide…

A buffet of ‘C’ rats no doubt. If that doesn’t make sense, I guess you had to be there.

In this version, nobody needs to get hurt or die.

So THAT´S what we were practicing for in the Brecon Beacons in 1971, except they used tear gas and pouring rain.

I’m intrigued. Could this be the new way to wealth in Afghanistan? Fire fight for fun? Ambush for cash? Kidnapping for kicks? …this has possibilities.

Vietnam appears to be America’s favourite war. I don’t hear of any resorts going up in Afghanistan and other hot spots.

Of course, the attacks come between 3 and 4 am, so they’re not late for the buffet.
