Oh, yes, teacher, tell us how we can compete in our field of interest so we can either have our jobs shipped overseas, lose to nepotism, or wind up as code monkeys for slightly over minimum wage!

Don’t worry, the Don is here now, and this sort of thing will not recur… maybe…!

Funny, I look through my grade school and high school class pics, and while I didn’t notice much diversity at the time, there were Asians, Hispanics, other ethnicities galore. It didn’t matter much at the time. Only a few blacks, then, and those were the cool kids.

When I was working in the physics department at University of Houston, a story came back to me one day that a student had stood up in Dr. Hu’s class and asked why they were conducting the class in English. “We are all Chinese.” Dr. Hu, who was doubtless more fluent in Chinese, stated that his classes would take place in English, and that was the end of the discussion.

I did wonder, once in a while, who was taking care of China while everybody was here. If I’d seen China before then, I wouldn’t have said it even in jest.

@NIGHT-GAUNT49 If KIP W hasn’t told them, I have. It’s annoying as heck — I thought everyone knew how other comments sections worked and that their revised one would work similarly. I assume that they’ll get around to it one of these days.
