No case of voter fraud because the detection is abysmal. The NRA wishes gun regulation was like vote regulation. Its close but not that close. Anyone can walk and vote as long they are on the rolls- no ID check by volunteers who don’t want to see ID even if you try to show it. Its like a Japanese law. You’d have to turn yourself in to be prosecuted.

it is really hilarious that Trudeau artfully leaves out howObama/IRS actually did use voter suppression prior tothe 2012 Presidential election, in targeting Tea PartyGroups. 292 Tea Party groups did not receive 501c-4approval from the IRS, which kept them from raising fundsto defeat Obama. Progressive groups(7) did get approval, and were able to secure money and votes for our MarxistPresident. Looks like ‘Jimmy Crow’ is alive and well, workingfor our Progressive Marxist ‘fellow travelers!’.

@jokesonu – go back and re-check your facts. The IRS checked out more groups than Tea Partiers (who have stated they don’t think we ought to pay taxes). Plus only one group who applied was denied and it wasn’t a TP group. Really, dude, do a little reading and quit listening to FOX NOISE!!

The reason it appeared to be “targeted” to tea party groups is because Issa only asked for information on Tea Party groups. He told Treasury IG to ignore data on liberal groups. He cherry-picked the data and ginned up a controversy. In other words, business as usual.

The Texas Attorney General spent two years looking for it. After two years of looking at numerous elections, the number was not zero. It was a huge seven. What are seven fraudulent votes out of the millions of votes cast in those elections? It is statistically insignificant. And the AG is a Republican and he could not find evidence to support the alleged need for the voter ID law the Republican controlled legislature eventually passed.

I show my driver’s license to the clerk every time I vote. Pisses them off. “You don’t need to show any ID.”. No, but I should. I need ID to drive a car and even to buy cough medicine. Two frowned. One clerk stood and high fived me.

See above jokesonu “292 Tea Party groups did not receive 501c-4 approval from the IRS, which kept them from raising funds to defeat Obama.” So the IRS was out of line in preventing the Tea Party from violating the law?

Assault weapons are by definition, automatic. Automatic weapons need a special stamp from the BATF and have restrictions. The anti-gunners are going after “look-alike” rifles, that are not automatic. They fire rounds that are less powerful than most deer rifles(.308).For the record, the Sandy Hook massacre used handguns – the rifle was locked in the trunk of his car. These rifles are rarely used for illegal means, they are too hard to hide. Education is what is needed, not a ban.

How can a law keep ELIGIBLE voters away. Or is this a doone definition of eligible?

It is easy for a law to keep ELIGIBLE voters away. Put requirements in the law which make it difficult for people who voted just a few years ago, without photo ID. As has been pointed out, many are unable to easily obtain the ID which is now required, though they had valid ID in the past. These groups tend to include the poor, elderly and college students. Also, make it more difficult for many who live in urban areas by not giving them enough places to vote as those who live in suburbs or rural areas. Restrict the hours that those who are waiting in long lines can vote. Restrict absentee ballots. Restrict Sunday voting. There are many ways to make this happen.

They didn’t need to deny tax exempt status for conservative groups, they only needed to delay it until after the election, which they did in a large number of cases.

Republican Abraham Lincoln freed the salves, and the Republican party took Blacks as members when the Democrat party required members to be white. The Jim Crow laws were all passed and enforced by the Democrat party. Learn your history so you don’t look silly!

I have worked elections as a Republican, and we worked very hard for an honest election. One precinct had a Democrat chairman who took each voter into a voting machine and showed him how to vote a straight Democrat ticket. Another precinct had people voting for other people who had not shown up. This was also done by Democrats.

“If he could, Trudeau would turn America into a socialist state.”

How do you know this? Does one of his past strips advocate collectivizing the means of production? Abolition of private property? Do you see this in some non-Doonesbury publication of his?

Or do you just not get the distinction between modern liberalism and socialism? It’s pretty clear to those that aren’t trying to avoid seeing it.

I hope that PA has an exemption for religion. There are a lot of Amish who lean GOP and have no photo ID’s because it is against their religion to make photos (graven image). They vote and pay taxes and it seems to me that they are being disenfranchised by this law. I am surprised they have not sued. They went to jail to protect their right to have their kids in local schools and end their education at 8th grade.

jokesonu – There have also been a number of left leaning groups that have been found to have had the same problem. It was not discriminatory. They have to make sure that the purpose of the group is a tax-exempt one and that they are in the correct category. Husband and I did the paperwork for our reenactment group which has the word militia in the title and could have popped out as a right leaning group. (We are a nonpolitical group. We have a member who runs for office annually as a Liberal party candidate and others who are extremely Liberal.) We had no problem at all with our application and it was done in 2 months at most. The tax-exempt division of IRS tends to be different than the rest of IRS and actually is helpful and nice, based on my dealings with them. I am an accountant and have substantial dealings with IRS and see the difference.
