Joanie: You're going on another mission? Where? Jeff: Well, I don't know the exact mission yet, Mom... but I've got an interview with Overkill Systems today. They're private security contractors. Joanie: Private security? You mean those big, lawless pinheads in black tees and Ray-bans who are always creating mayhem. Jeff: Oakleys. Joanie: What? Jeff: They were Oakleys, Mom. Only State Department weenies wear Ray-bans.

Will Duke make an appearance?
ksoskins almost 13 years ago
Duke is ubiquitous, and he’s omnipresent too, in a redundant sort of way..

Sunnies make all the difference, obviously.

Hey, Oakleys are all we can buy here in the sandbox, and Oakley offers us a steep discount…what can you do :-p
ArtyG almost 13 years ago
Oakleys are identical to $5 safety glasses. I’m not making this up.

Cry havoc…and loose the dogs of fashion!
pksampso almost 13 years ago
@sandfan - now that was funny. I wish I’d said it. In fact, as I think of it, I may claim I did say it…

I never wore my Oaks in the sandtrap, I opted for my traditional Randolph Aviator frames from the PX. they make the ones with square lenses. I didn’t get to keep my oaks upon remob. Brand new in the box. They fetch over $100 on e-bay.
So Redfern is going to be an incompetent merc next? this is going to do wonders for the war profiteer’s reputations.

I see the Afghans want to kick them out.
Who’s going to guard the huge embassy complex we built in Iraq at the end of the month?
MisngNOLA almost 13 years ago
I didn’t wear Oakleys in the sandbox either. I wore and still wear my Wileys. Removable/replaceable lenses. Tight fitting enough to hold out most sand, and no one wants to steal them.

Well… Jeff has been fired by the CIA, so right away he probably does meets the standards of the current-day Blackwater knock-offs….
Dragoncat almost 13 years ago
Well, Jeff is no stranger to creating mayhem…
Who knows? Maybe working for Overkill Systems will inspire him to write more Red Rascal stories.

Luxottica makes both Ran-Bans and Oakleys and lots more brands. They also own vision store chains under several names.

Not only that, but Luxottica owns EyeMed vision plans and administers vision plans for many other companies. They’re not a pleasant company to work for, either.
