J.J.: See, Alex, the best thing about a grant is that it frees you from commercial constraints...relieved of financial pressure, I can be true to myself as an artist! So, for instantce, instead of coating this broken crockery with something safe like plaster, I can use a bold medium like mayonnaise. Alex: Mayonnaise is bold? J.J.: Of course, honey! Anything that decomposes is much edgier!
