July 2013.I asked my wife if she could name 10 American Presidents and she managed 9 plus ‘the peanut man’.To the American fans of Doonesbury:How many UK Prime Ministers can you name?I’m sure you will manage two easily, but I’ll be especially interested in how many of the last 5 are memorable.

Maybe the Brit readers could have a corresponding competition to name five leaders of the opposition who never went on to be Prime Minister…

here’s off the top, no cheating, no coffee . . . Cameron, Major, Blair, Thatcher . . . who was there in the 90s?I actually know more from a century ago . . . Palmerston, Disraeli, Gladstone, Salisbury, Asquith . . . before that, Melbourne, a couple of Pitts . . .

Off the top of my head and working backward:Cameron, Brown, Blair, Major, Thatcher, Wilson, Heath, MacMillan, Churchill, Atlee, Chamberlain, Baldwin (several times), Lloyd George, and Asquith. It gets fuzzy before that, and I’m sure I missed one or two (someone in the late ’70s, I think, between Wilson and Thatcher.

Interesting discussion, but what has it to do with the strip?
