My old roommate years ago, in coastal SC, had a German Shepard that had a run cable that allowed him “free” run of the yard without endangerment of running off. One summer, I went by for a visit and the dog lead was hanging down to the ground, but he wasn’t there. I though, “Well, it is a hot day. He must be inside.” Just as I got out of the car, the lead began to move and up popped the dog out of a hole he had dug deep into the yard to stay cool. It was just this exact same design. XD

Unfortunately, his alarm goes off early, on February 2nd, and a new holiday tradition is born

See you after the first rain or snow storm fills your hole. Hibernate in CAVES, not BURROWS.
