“silenced for good” see my earlier entry- “Go for it, then you get to tell your boss you damaged his collection. think he’ll give you a bonus for the holidays?”
Sorry, while it’s dramatic it doesn’t make sense. Mad Mindy needs to be in the sun in order to regain her strength, right? I don’t think she’s been strolling in the back yard. Hasn’t she been displaying severe weakness?
What are those things behind Alldid’s head? I was thinking maybe they were little windows or some kind of UV light source. That might be part of the reason that Mysta was able to strain through just enough to get Honeymoon’s attention. I suppose it helps slightly that she’s been resting for a week or so, too.
Archival, obviously, doesn’t know where they went after they left his place — at least that’s his story, as we expected.
Despite our possibly accurate speculations I hope a real explanation comes as to how she was able to get a signal out. Seeing Honeymoon’s shocked reaction will be all the more credible and satisfying.
I have some questions about telepathy: how is a telepath able to send a thought to another person when they don’t know where that person is? Was it a spherical broadcast? Did anyone else get the message, like the other Lunarians on Earth (if there are any)? What’s the range of these transmissions? Surely they have a limit.
Still wondering what contacts Archival has that he can go down to rent-a-thug and hire a large household staff that is willing to go along with kidnapping. Seems like he could purchased a lot of original art for the money that many henchmen will charge.
Interesting that we dont see low enough on Archival to know if he still has the ring on or not. Was he smart enough to remove it before meeting with Tracy, or does he still have it on, and that will be his undoing?
I was so hoping for a scenario where Tracy spots the ring. Maybe he feels it’s not enough for a warrant, but he can set up round-the-clock surveillance, and when Archival goes to move his captives, the cops can move in. Now that would be some good Tracy detective work!
1-STAN LEE: Can I offer you gentlemen a Yoo Hoo? SAM: What? No Choc-Ola? Let’s go Tracy – we’re wasting our time here.
2-GUARD: You remind me of a little rabbit I had. I held him just like this. I loved that little rabbit but he stopped moving. Will you be my little rabbit?
3-DT: So they were never here and you don’t know where they went after they left? The perfect alibi. C’mon Sam.
4-HORNY: OWWWW! Darn my great hearing! Tracy’s high pitched voice is killing my ears. He sounds like the high notes on Bohemian Rhapsody without the tune!
5-HONEYMOONS:So that’s what a boy’s “tail” is supposed to look like. I knew Asteroid’s couldn’t be normal.
Y’know…if we’re lucky…. MAYBE this last ditch effort will atomized Frankenmindy for good…using up all of her energy leaving a lifeless husk on the floor.
Being a fan of the original Moon Maid (and at least lukewarm to Mike’s attempt to resurrect her), it is a bit difficult to agree with them, BUT!
Timmy’s point, exactly: What was it, five weeks ago (our time), wasn’t this exactly where we left off? „They“ (Tracy and friends) knew „they“ (Vera and Moon Maid) were missing, and yet, when asked about the lack of transmissions from Mysta, everyone was cool.
That was followed by what feels to have been weeks of filler, including the apparent „hint“ that Mike is now desperate enough to resurrect yet another famous aircraft carrier from the past.
Now, all of a sudden, Mysta can communicate. Now, someone cares.
While there‘s no guarantee that this story will end this week, the odds of that just jumped considerably.
About the only thing we know for now is, it didn‘t end today.
Hey, just had a thought…maybe honeymoon DIDN’T receive the transmission from Frankenmindy but instead stumbled across those “private, personal photos” of Mars Maid on line that Archival took ;)
As to the lights: Fluorescent lights work by first generating a UV beam down the middle of the tube, then the inside of the glass is coated with a material [usually rare earths] that converts that UV energy into visible light. Because each element of the coating may only glow at one frequency, to get white light a mixture of several elements are needed. The so-called “Color Temperature” [cool or warm etc.] may be adjusted by tweaking the recipe of the phosphors.
Therefore the lights could be helping to recharge Mysta.
“WHEEEEEEEEEEEOOOOOOH, all you hip cats and cool swingers out there in BMBG Land! This is your wild man DJ, JPuzz the Whiz, here, spinnin’ the best platters on this side of Tracyville! And I’ve got a waaaaaaaaay-out tune to entertain you all!"
Remark on the 8/5/2021, Mysta said “No, it only works with other Lunarians.” An easy gloss, but we have seen in the past that Punjab, Oliver Warbucks’ trusted assistant, has picked up on such telepathy.
Sorry I’m late to the party but I’d like to add my 2 cents worth in agreement to some previous posts…
I agree with those speculating that the physical elements of the safe room have aided Mysta, and in generally accepted “comics reality” they make sense:
Paper collectibles require special lighting, protective forms of glass, and precise atmospheric conditions to ensure they don’t fade, yellow, etc. It is therefore entirely reasonable that Archival would have simply repurposed a few of these speciality fixtures and bulbs for the safe room. The possibility exists that the lightwaves are coincidentally a very beneficial sort for Mysta’s recuperation.
Archival’s safe room wasn’t constructed especially with someday imprisoning Mysta and Vera in mind. It is entirely reasonable to conjecture that an unintended byproduct of the way the room is reinforced or shielded is now negating the effects of the ring. The ring uses a technological signal that is being blocked from entering the room, while Mysta’s telepathy uses an organic signal which is not affected.
I don’t doubt that Mike’s fandom for all things Superman informs the way he treats Mysta’s powers and Bribery’s ring. Many others have pointed out the similarities between them and the Superman/kryponite dynamic. But James Bond did so too, and countless other superheroes. We should not be surprised that any story with Mysta and Lunarian elements then uses these well-worn superhero storytelling tropes. And there’s also the fact that an unexpected gap in a “foolproof” plan goes all the way back to Achilles and his unprotected heel. Having a similar thing happen now isn’t epically bad storytelling, it’s just unoriginal and that’s not as bad if you just adjust your expectations accordingly.
Well, this is a welcome if altogether unlikely turn of events. Suddenly, somehow, after “losing” her telepathy, Mysta manages to get a message of desperation out to Honeymoon, who was ready to pick up anything that might come through.
This is calling for an extra-large helping of willing suspension of disbelief, but if it advances the plotline, so be it. Now, can Honeymoon get in touch with Pop-Pop quickly enough for Tracy and Sam to rescue the hostages before they are shipped off to the remote private tropical island? Hmm….

Archival moves his plan ahead. An island destination
Shall be the home of his new toys. No time for hesitation.
Mysta tries to call for help. Strong sunshine is her friend
Kept in shadow far too long could mean a captive end.
Dick Tracy calls upon the fiend. Not without suspicions
Prisoners are stashed away in soundproof locked conditions.
Mysta seeks once more to call the friend she holds most dear
Desperate plea to Honeymoon who in her mind does hear.
“Please know I am in danger. In shadow I am bound
Let Dick Tracy know of this, for then I shall be found.”

Looks like some advantage to being locked in the safe room, blocks the repression enough to allow her to get a transmission out.

In light of @Avenger09 ’s comment. Even a microburst of energy might not be enough to get all the info to Honeymoon in a time to aid Pop Pop.
