Good morning™, old friends!
I had a feeling this was the summer story. Annie has visited Honeymoon maybe 2 previous summers?
Rare “Double Facepalm” from Tracy. ✨
Good morning™, palm pilots !
You saved his bacon, Dick … ungrateful wretch ! D.W. is going to have to come clean or go back into comics purgatory.
I think Warbucks will help Tracy.
Tracy, just let him know that it is for police business in relation to a case they have. In strictest confidence of course…
Warbucks should be arrested by the police or federal agents for maintaining a private army that are using unconventional weapons, including weapon of mass destruction.
And Annie must be their love child!
With Warbucks in town can a Diet Smith sighting be far behind?
Sounds like Oliver Warbucks has a few skeletons hidden in his closet(s.)
Looks like a long hot summer for Tracy and company!!!
Originality is a thing of the past.
Tracy’s fedora suddenly turns into a Panama Hat? (panel three)
Tracy continues: “We don’t ask about his wives and he gives us a couple million a year for the Police Widow’s Fund, and fifty grand for the Policeman’s Ball… It always seemed like a fair arrangement to me.”
what happened to tracy’s hat brim. it’s difference in each panel.
Obviously Tracy feels an Excedrin headache coming on. He’d better walk over to Junior’s office and borrow some. I’m sure Junior has some on hand, being the father of a pre teen luna/human girl.
Good Morning, Tracy and Annie Fans!
He has come to my attention there’s a certain poster yesterday that don’t like the often crossovers of Dick Tracy and Annie. That poster is (or should I say was) tsull2121. TSU, we all don’t like comics don’t enjoy. I myself don’t like strips such as EndTown (I stop reading it in 2014), Daddy’s Home (the artwork would put a one-year-old to shame) and Frog Applause (if there’s any humor in that strip, I like to know where I can find it!). The point I’m getting to is what they tell me on these boards all the time: If you don’t like the comics, don’t have to read it! As for this long-running detective comic that’s been around since my great-grandfather’s time, I love it ever since the makeover it got 5 years ago (I think). Remember, we’re all going to despise things we don’t like; profanity, blue humor, alcoholism and whatnot. But please, don’t go off bad-mouthing this iconic comic strip, please!

It will be eight years next month.
Wives, as in plural? I thought there was only the one in the early years of the strip.
Uh, Pat? You don’t know who Warbucks hangs out with… do you?
Last week, Jim Doherty went to great lengths to explain his take on the aging of characters in Dick Tracy – mostly because he was forced to repeat himself numerous times for the benefit of those who failed to read his earlier comments. He said Tracy is in his 50s, and will probably stay that way from now on, so anything that happened in the strip earlier will be compressed into approximately a 30 year span. That works for the rest of the adult characters in the strip as well, although the Chief (Pat Patton) seems to have aged more than Tracy. Even Junior caught up with himself somewhere, and is now an adult. But they’re going to have a problem if they try to work earlier events from the Annie continuity into this strip, because Annie has never aged. In the classic LOA strip, she wandered from place to place, and rarely encountered the same people twice, except for the core supporting cast of Oliver, Asp and Punjab. But now they’re trying to make her a pre-teen with Honeymoon as a friend. If they start bringing up stuff from long ago, time will really be bending out of shape, I should think.
Again, this could be a fun ride, but I do wonder why Mike insists on these cross-overs and reusing old characters so much. Why not move forward with new material? I like keeping Tracy looking like he has always looked, with coat and hat, in an indeterminate era, but that still leaves room for modern crime stories, doesn’t it? Oh well, just my thoughts on the matter.
Guests are arriving in two weeks? That would be around June 1st. The arc will probably run until the first part of September.
I’ve got good Monopoly money that says that Daddy will collar Dick and start talking about the troubles he’s seen…. 8^)
Comic time isn’t our time. It can take longer or less time depending on the conditions of the story.
Okay, what’s going on with Daddy Warbucks!
Agree with Ken in Ohio. Rehash of old villains and crossovers look non-creative, devoid of new ideas mechanisms to me. But fanboys rule I guess
To simplify: never mix business with pleasure. The result is never good for either party.
In this case, Warbucks will become upset with Tracy, while Tracy will become suspicious of his erstwhile friend.
A Third Way will have to be found….
1- CHIEF: I gotta surprise for you Tracy. Cover your eyes. TRACY: OH BOY! 2- CHIEF: Open them! TRACY: AAAAHHH! IT’S DARK! YOU BLINDED ME! CHIEF: Settle down Tracy! It’s a trick. I only turned out the lights! 3- TRACY: Oh. I get it. Real funny Chief. Real funny.
