    >I don’t understand why DT is the only one being asked to sign a release when all he did was pull the guy out of the pool. Haku did all the work!Everybody else is already under contract. That’s how it works.

DT is looking good in panel 1. But it’s a good thing for Sam that there isn’t a panel 4 today! Lizz is miffed.

Good morning all! I’m guessing not as miffed as she is going to be when Sam tells her it is a slip not, she just had to pull the end. I’m sure Lizz is thinking, “I’ve heard of being bound by a contract, but this is ridiculous!”

In a way, i am disappointed, disappointed…i expected this story arc to run a bit longer, longer

At least the villain survived the story this time; that leaves room for a (longer) sequel…on the set of Scarlet Sting 2?

Tune in tomorrow when you’ll hear Doubleup say:

“I’ll be back! I’ll be back!”

There really doesn’t seem to be any plots here lately. I was hoping new blood would mean better story lines but these past three have absolutely no depth at all. I am happy about the art work and a slight return to the over all feel of the strip but really, one month per story? I think they need a writer to be recruited and at least go back to the days of Max Collins.

This IS the second storyline we’ve had where Lizz gets captured by the villains and menaced and needs Dick and Sam to rescue her. I hope she gets to do more than just be a damsel in distress soon.

Yes, we will see Doubleup again. He’s too good to throw away in such a short tale.

I am surprised no one has noticed what Sam has noticed.

Well, what I’ve noticed in panel 2 is SMOKE coming as a result of Sam’s cigarette.

Some won’t like that, but it is part of the man’s character make up. Gould designed him so.

I must agree on the “comic book” length of these stories. Basically, two very good villains have been wasted. This one lasted less than four weeks, and was pretty dull except for the villain. Everything else, however, has been an upgrade.

It looks as if the back of the chair changed height between panels #2 and #3. It also looks as if the chair fell over, yet Lizz wasn’t injured.

Nothing wrong with Lizz as a damsel in distress, kinda like the old days but with a new twist.

There is nothing wrong with Lizz being used as a damsel in distress, nothing at all, so long as the creative team remembers that she is also a very capable female detective who just as often does the rescuing (and they have indicated that they are well aware of that fact). If anything is distressing, it’s not Lizz getting into trouble, it’s that Tracy hasn’t really gotten himself into trouble yet…I’m looking forward to a good Tracy deathtrap again. And I agree that Doubleup is a great rogue who needs a better story. This one…isn’t bad, but it is somewhat slight, the consequence of a mandate for shorter stories, which I understand. It’s more of a shame that the Syndicate didn’t approve longer stories in time for Doubleup’s first go-round to benefit then any particular fault on the writer, and I look forward to his next adventure. The one thing I do caution, though, is that I hope the authors don’t turn him into a Dab Stract or Angeltop who keeps showing up, and keeps showing up, and keeps showing up. Nasty vicious characters (as we know Doubleup is from last week’s gripping scene) deserve nasty vicious deaths. Overall, I would say that there are some problems with pacing and flow, but Mr. Curtis seems to be on the right track, and getting better, and I look forward to seeing what other treats he has planned for us.Aaron

I would also add that Gould’s motto was always leave them wanting more. When we look back at Locher’s solo run, he would very often leave us wanting less, so to see the nearly universal critique on these boards of “more, more, more” shows that Mr. Curtis definitely has the right idea so far.Aaron

Life’s little mysteries…the team does such a wonderful job in 3 small panels…but time has shrunk the comic down, and it would be nice if they had 4 to work with like in the old days. I wonder what mysteries could be solved with 4?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3bM0V8JbOhU

Yes, the stories are moving too fast and leave plot gaps. Will Tracy find out what Double-Up did to his lady companion whom the movie people dismissed from playing Ponytail?

It may be too late a post for anyone to notice before Sunday, and I may be the only one who feels this way, but I would rather not be given hints as to what’s coming next, what character[s] may be revived, clues to seek, etc. To me, it takes away some of the element of surprise and discovery.

Can’t get over how good Tracy looks when he’s pushing 90.Liz sounds angry that her S^M session is over without anyreal action. Plus that, Sam was not her first choice.
