Aristotle also thought that spiders only had six legs, so why listen to him?

    Nothing comes from doing nothing.

But doing nothing is still doing something.

Doing nothing still gets people in trouble.

Aristotle had his faults and misconceptions. What we, as a culture, got from his writings is the idea that the world could be organized and that considered thought was an important step in understanding. What his Greek culture lacked was the concept of “experiment” as opposed to “thought experiment”.

It is better to be silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.

The not so rare critic bird. So common, it’s hard to find a place without at least one. Particularly abundant in comment sections.
