I have to say… this strip is consistently brilliant. And you say the author is free to walk the streets?
Sometimes, you have to face the facts.
Because of our magnificent brains we can create fiction, fantasy and lies. The 2-edged sword. WE can use it for pleasure and for nefarious ends. The human mind can figure out which-is-which but it takes more time and brain power to do it.
Horace has it easy compared to our world.
Possibly apropos of nothing, I never read fiction. Always non-fiction.

Fiction doesn’t have to be the opposite of ‘fact’. The best fiction starts with facts and takes the reader into a world that just might be a much happier place than the cold place where he or she is confined…
