Dana, are you saying that politicians should interfere with the free market of supply and demand in the oil business? Is that really on the GOP speaking cards? You really can’t rave about politicians interfering one day and then blame them for not interfering the next…. at least not getting away with it with your slightly intelligent viewers….
Thanks for nothing. It’s your idiotic policies (close Keystone pipeline etc.) that has caused this mess. Then, getting on your knees and asking OPEC to produce more is such an embarrassment. We were energy independent under Trump. #FJB!!!
Our SR of oil isn’t the nice, sweet crude, it’s the really dirty stuff that requires much more refinement. Lots of sulphur and chunks and stuff in it. Kinda like the gravy some of you might experience today :)
AVERAGE FUEL COST PER AIRPLANE = New York JFK Airport to London Heathrow – $27,270Return to JFK from London Heathrow – $33,411New York JFK to LAX – $10,757LAX to Tokyo Narita – $19,190Chicago to Mami – $4,747Miami to Chicago – $7,201
I seem to recall the last president crowing about the US being self sufficient in oil.. So why then are you blaming Saudi Arabia for the price increase at the pump? This.. is just normal American greed, charging what the market will bear.
Dana, have you ever heard of capitalism. The President didn’t make prices go up and, unless the free market is abandoned, he can’t bring the prices down. So if you don’t like the prices, drive less. Perhaps instead of peddling BS, you could call out the corporate money grubbers who use times like these to fuel the inflation fire and pad their bottom lines.
It is a silly idea; it is true that it will only provide a couple of days’ worth of gasoline, so it’s really just a photo op.
Another example of a country that refuses to look longterm. Rolling Great Rooms disguised as pickup trucks and Suburban Assault Vehicles took a hit when gas prices skyrocketed during the Bush administration (also Biden’s fault). After we learned how to create earthquakes by fracking, gas got cheap again, and many people went out and bought gas guzzlers.
Who could have guessed that the historically unstable price of gasoline would one day go up again?
Summers conveniently forgets that ExxonMobil and Chevron recently announced higher profits because of gasoline price increases … Summers doesn’t allow FACTS to interfer with his bogus agendas!
Um, isn’t Biden doing this in concert with a bunch of other nations so that, collectively, they’ll have a positive impact on gas prices? Gosh, leaving out some important details there Summers. No surprise, of course.
It’s a political move because Americans are too stupid to realize the price of gas is much more complex and global than that.
You want lower gas prices? First, fix the supply side by getting people vaccinated and working. Then fix the demand side by banning those 12-mpg urban tanks. You know the ones, driven by people complaining about the high price of gas.
Speaking of high prices, 1 gallon of gas in the UK costs $US7.50. It’s a dollar more than that in the Netherlands. Go to those places. You won’t see pick-up trucks with 6 tires and V8 sports cars. You know why? Because it would be delusional.

Summers fails to mention that this is the largest release ever from those oil reserves.

dana … dork. The price of petrol was artificially low due to the plague. It’s adjusting itself, as it always does, based on demand and supply.
Concerned with the cost of fuel? Try being thrifty.

18 million gallons is being sold to us to raise Govt revenue. Then we also need to pay for the restocking cost. Such a bargain!

Gas where I live in Canada is selling at 1.379 per litre. That’s 5.21 for you Americans. Can I blame BIden as well?

Three whole days of MORE PROFITS from the sale of gas AT THE SAME PRICE seems more likely to me. Dumb idea. Pure politics (but I repeat myself).
