What a stinky pile of nonsense Mr Summers is trying to pass off as political commentary. Job growth under Trump has slowed about 5%. Inflation-adjusted wages are declining again, after increasing for the last year’s of the Obama economy. That overbuilt vehicle is a pretty good metaphor for the Trump economy — it burns through fuel at an insane rate, breaks down regularly, and is fit for driving around in circles rather than for actually going somewhere.
Not a “disciple” but you have to give the man credit, he knows what it would take to release the pent up demand, and assure the people who make spending decisions at companies that they have a better chance of seeing a return on their investment now rather then later. Please recall that JFK did a similar thing in his first months in office. The other thing to remember is that the business of America is Business.
