This reminds me a lot of the Jack-o-Lantern and Headless Horseman stories. Pumpkins are full of pulp—how about Pulpy Jack?

Next customer is looking for tomatoes. So modify the story to fit.

For those who don’t know, this is a take on the old blues guitar player in the 1930’s, Robert Johnson. He said he sold his soul to the devil at the crossroads to learn to be a great guitar player. Among many inspirations, are the song by Cream, called “Crossroads” and the movie in 1986 and the 2019 documentary “ReMastered: Devil at the Crossroads”

This outstanding strip ran on May 30, 2021. I know that the strips are being rerun, but I thought that there were more of them than that.

At least the story made a produce convert.

Thanks Pulpy Joe. This brings back lots of good memories of driving home from grandmas house, and stopping off at the “fruit stand” for the best produce in the county. OMG, the peaches! The peaches were spectacular! Unfortunately we didn’t have a Pulpy Joe.

Why does the devil look so much like Timmy Fretwork?

The Legend of Pulpy Joe is a classic. Even Petey, My Hero, now thinks produce is cool!

I feel like this particular strip appears in the rotation much more frequently than others. Am I mistaken?
