Another Hallmark movie! But…we’ll have to cut that 3rd panel!

All we needed was a cheesy Xmas theme!

If it was all “a story,” as Alice says, then she never really did have an artistic crisis. But if the muse truly left her, then it returned to her equally suddenly. Verisimilitude?

    Beni, as always, is perfect.

Just like the show your mom watches when you want to watch people shooting at each other from fat moving cars.

This warms the cockles of my heart.

Actually, thinking of that phrase got me to look up “cockles”, and now I’m all confused. But Alice’s expression in the middle panel is certainly evocative. Of something.

In that 3rd panel, Alice looks less like she’s regaining belief in herself and more like she’s passing a kidney stone.

According to Steven Colbert, 146 new Christmas themed hot steaming messes were created just this year.

    Alice’s own Very Special Episode.

I stopped believing in myself once, but then the drug wore off.

This is why I generally avoid any movie or other type of story that’s described as heartwarming. They’re all exactly like this.

Actually, Alice, that was indeed pretty much like on TV: lame story, predictable ending, cloying actor.

You may have a job ahead of you in writing for the boob-tube, lord help us!

Or, as in Beni’s briefer critique: EW!

“‘I can’t believe that!’ said Alice. ’Can’t you?…Try again: draw a long breath and shut your eyes.’”
