    Not so ! The problem is that nobody teaches phonetics anymore. The nuns taught me well…in the mid-fifties !

    I agree that if we knew at the beginning of education the extent of everything we will learn, it would be entirely too daunting to begin.

    and I’m still learning a lot (although most of it is pop nonsense such as differences between Starwars and Trek).

    And in today’s strip, I’d still wear those platform stilletos, even though I’m 76 (because I’m just 5’ tall).

    And what about those who can’t (or won’t) make the distinction between ‘to’ and ‘too’? And ‘lose’ and ‘loose’? Those two in particular drive me insane.
