She may be holding the needles in that position just to avoid loosing stitches while watching TV. andRuthie may have been helping to bake cookies before they stopped to watch a show (or they may have something in the oven and be waiting to take it out) – looks like grandma made the apron from scraps of her shirt (as I would).
I used to watch shows like the one on creators, but shows with many bleeped out words are just annoying (folks need to increase the vocabulary so they don’t have to use obscenities as fillers).
