Okay, follow through on the history.Who was it that decided that a balanced budget and reduced deficit wasn’t important? And then watched the banking industry crash? Started an unnecessary war instead of finishing the first one?No, it wasn’t Obama. Try again.
No, Scott, I was there. Democrats voted to allow the use of force because Bush said it would help in negotiations, and that force would be the last option. He lied, of course — he and Cheney made the plans to invade Iraq even before 9/11, and never tried to negotiate. This weakness of some Democrats to be suckered by lying Republicans is why Clinton lost the primaries in 2008. But it’s NO reason to vote Republican.
Bush was “authorized” to use force AFTER he came back to the Congress, he never came back, and seized power. Libya was a NATO operation, and we had a treaty, which Obama operated under, and we gave support, but no troops on the ground to fight a “war”. Syria is another, but messier, insurrection against the government, and we’ve wisely stayed on the sidelines, because it IS a mess where nobody really knows “who’s on first”, or what will happen when, not just if, Assad finally leaves.
As to the button, I don’t really think either Bill, or Hillary, truly want her to run in 2016, but. . .
Don’t forget to add Barney Frank as part of the housing crisis which was one of the biggest contributors to the Banking problems along with all of the brokers created to gorge on the new found get quick rich scheme.
So, OK, Varvel admits Clinton was a good president – are we better off than we were TWELVE years ago? No, not really. But, wasn’t someone else President after Clinton for the first eight of those? After the devastation of Hurricane Shrub, the global economy was in tatters. The graph is a V shape, with Clinton on the left, Bush in the middle, Obama only halfway up the right. Four more years, we can get back to the prosperity that always comes from a Democratic Presidency.
