Hey, to an economist, money is speech — in the marketplace, people say what they want, and how much they want it, by how much they’re willing to spend for it. You can also relate it to politics: in the marketplace people “vote” with their wallets..More generally, people rationally pursue whatever gives them the most of what they want. And other people, with nothing more than different tastes, sneer at them for being so wrong-headed.
